Alternative Name | ANG; Ribonuclease 5; RNase 5; ALS9; HEL168; RAA1 |
UniProt | P03950 |
Immunogen | Human angiogenin. |
Application Notes | The antibody binds specifically to angiogenin, a member of of the ribonuclease superfamily of proteins, which interacts with actin on the surface of endothelial and smooth muscle cells, inducing neovascularization. Due to its angiogenic activity, angiogenesis plays a key role in the growth and invasiveness of tumour cells, and therefore neutralising monoclonal antibodies such as 26-2F are important anticancer drugs. The monoclonal antibody 26-2F is not directly cytotoxic to tumour cells in vitro, however has been shown to have antagonistic effects in human breast cancer xenografts in athymic mice. |
