CA50Ab01
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds tumor marker CA50. CA50 is a carbohydrate antigen that is mainly distributed in sugar esters and high molecular glycoprotein. CA50 is not organ-specific and elevated levels are seen in various conditions such as colitis, pancreatitis, pneumonia, and cancers, especially gastrointestinal cancers (e.g., pancreatic, stomach, hepatic, and colorectal cancers).
Alternative Names
CA 50; Carbohydrate antigen 50; tumor marker
UniProt
Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with cannine lymphoma cell line 17-71.
Application Notes
This antibody is recommended for detection of canine lymphoma cells. The binding ability of the hybridoma supernatents with canine lymphoma cells was determined by radioimmunoassay. FACS analysis was used to analyse the binding of the antibody to cells freshly isolated from canine lymphomatous nodes and normal lymphocytes of canine and human blood (Steplewski et al., 1987). This antibody has been shown to exhibit antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity as well as complement- dependant cytolysis (Rosales et al., 1988). Canine lymphoma is conventionally treated with chemotherapy, but it was found that subsequent treatment with a specific monoclonal antibody, Mab 231, raised against the lymphoma, substantially prolonged remission and survival times (Jeglum, 1989).
