Specificity
This antibody reacts with amino acids 285-298aa (RDYPVVSIEDPFDQ) of human NSE protein. Neuron specific enolase has neurotrophic and neuroprotective properties on a broad spectrum of central nervous system (CNS) neurons. It is also reported to bind cultured neocortical neurons in a calcium dependent manner and promotes cell survival.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with a peptide comprising 285-298aa (RDYPVVSIEDPFDQ) of human NSE protein cross linked with keyhole limpethemacyanin (KLH) mixed with an equal volume of complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA) .
Application Notes
This antibody in combination with another anti-NSE antibody E1-7E2 from our catalogue can be used in a sandwich ELISA for detection of human gamma enolase in a sample. This antibody was also used as a primary antibody in the detection of NSE protein in A549 cells using western blot (CN111234023).
