Species Reactivity | Species-independent |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody recognises biotin (vitamin B7). It is a water-soluble vitamin which serves as a cofactor of important metabolic enzymes involved in processing of carbohydrates, lipids and amino acids as well as carbon dioxide transport. |
Alternative Name | vitamin B7; vitamin H; coenzyme R |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | This antibody was raised by immunising mice with biotin conjugated to keyhole limpet haemocyanin. |
Application Notes | This monoclonal antibody can be used to detect biotinylated proteins and antibodies, particularly if signal amplification is desired. For instance, PE-conjugated BK-1/39 antibody was used to target biotinylated anti-Ig beta antibody in a flow cytometric analysis (Levit-Zerdoun et al., 2016). This antibody was also successfully utilised in the chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) of biotinylated sense or antisense strands of the saRNA duplex (Wu et al., 2016). BK-1/39 was used in in situ hybridisation as well; it detected biotinylated RNA probe complementary to the Epstein-Barr virus genome (de Lima et al., 2012). |
