Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody binds soluble form of human ST2 which is a member of the interleukin (IL)-1 receptor family. IL-33 is the ligand for ST2, which is involved in reducing fibrosis and hypertrophy in mechanically strained tissues. In in vitro and in vivo models, ST2L transduces the effects of IL-33, while excess sST2 or abnormalities in ST2 signaling leads to cardiac hypertrophy, fibrosis, and ventricular dysfunction. Circulating soluble ST2 concentration is believed to reflect cardiovascular stress and fibrosis. ST2 is a new cardiovascular biomarker for assessing acute heart failure and predicting the outcome of chronic heart failure. |
Alternative Name | soluble ST2; ST2; IL1RL1; IL-1RL1; DER4; T1; IL-33Rα; Interleukin-1 receptor-like 1; Protein ST2; Growth Stimulation Expressed Gene 2; suppression of tumorigenicity 5 |
UniProt | Q01638 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with recombinant human sST2 protein. |
Application Notes | HRP labelled version of this antibody was used as a detection antibody in combination with 67186-6 as capture antibody for the development of a double-antibody sandwich ELISA for detection of soluble ST2 in blood samples (CN105259353). |
