From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | functional assay, FC, IHC |
Species Reactivity | Human |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for human CD44. CD44 is a cell-surface receptor that plays a role in cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion and migration, helping them to sense and respond to changes in the tissue microenvironment. |
Alternative Name | CD44 antigen; CDw44; Epican; Extracellular matrix receptor III; ECMR-III; GP90 lymphocyte homing/adhesion receptor; HUTCH-I; Heparan sulfate proteoglycan; Hermes antigen; Hyaluronate receptor; Phagocytic glycoprotein 1; PGP-1; Phagocytic glycoprotein I; PGP-I |
UniProt | P16070 |
Immunogen | The mouse version of this antibody was raised by immunizing a BALB/c mouse with immunoprecipitated LFA-I family antigen. |
Application Notes | To determine the expression of CD44 in oral squamous cell carcinoma associated endothelial cells, immunohistochemistry was used on squamous cell carcinoma tissues using the mouse version of this antibody (Essa and Deraz, 2021). To explore the role of CD44 splicing in the regulation of cell binding to HA, flow cytometry was used on Namalwa and COS transfectants using the mouse version of this antibody (van der Voort, 2000). To study expression of CD44 in human colorectal cancer, immunohistochemistry was performed on normal and pathological tissue using the mouse version of this antibody (Wielenga et al, 1993; pmid:7691404). Immunohistochemistry was performed on normal and colorectal neoplasia tissue using the mouse version of this antibody to study expression of CD44 in normal tissue and colorectal neoplasia tissue (Heider et al, 1993; pmid:8416989). To study the expression of CD44 in primary brain tumours, flow cytometry was performed on glioma cell cultures using the mouse version of this antibody. Furthermore, primary brain tumours were stained for immunohistochemistry using this antibody (Kaaijk et al, 1995; pmid:8750184). |
Antibody First Published | Koopman et al. Triggering of the CD44 antigen on T lymphocytes promotes T cell adhesion through the LFA-1 pathway J Immunol. 1990 Dec 1;145(11):3589-93. PMID:2246503 |
Note on publication | It was demonstrated that triggering of CD44 on T lymphocytes by anti-CD44 mAb promotes cell adhesion. The induced homotypic adhesion is mediated by lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1), because it was inhibited by anti-LFA-1 antibodies and not by anti-LFA-3 antibodies. |
