Immunogen | This antibody was prepared by immunizing BALB/c mice intraperitoneally with 4x10^7 rat (PVG-RT1c) thoracic duct leucocytes, followed 10 days later by a second injection of 4x 10^7 PVG-RT1c spleen cells. |
Application Notes | This antibody recognizes rat CD6, which is largely restricted to cells of the T- lymphocyte lineage, and, as a result, this antibody can be used to identify such cells in tissues or cell suspensions (Robinson, 1986). In cell suspensions prepared from lymph node, TDL, thymus and spleen, exclusively T cells are labelled. Using the immunoperoxidase technique on cryostat tissue sections, staining is mainly confined to the T-cell areas of the spleen, lymph nodes and Peyer's patches, as well as all thymocytes. However, occassional positive cells have been observed in the B cell areas of lymphoid organs (Robinson, 1986), and consequently this antibody is used in conjunction with other markers, such as11 OX-19, to identify T cells. |
