Cat. No. | MABL-1181 |
Name | Anti-Cell-wall antigen B mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD- OMVU10 |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | ELISA, IF |
Species Reactivity | Streptococcus downei, Streptococcus sobrinus |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody reacts with the purified cell-wall antigen B of Streptococcus sobrinus, which is an anaerobic, gram-positive, catalase-negative, non-motile bacteria. it also cross reacts with Streptococcus downei. Streptococcus sobrinus is a pathogenic bacteria in humans which enhances the formation of caries within teeth. S. sobrinus is also affiliated with early childhood caries, which are responsible for the majority of dental abscesses and toothaches in children. |
Alternative Name | Group B cell wall antigen; polysaccharide antigen of group B |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with bacterial cell suspension of strain HG459 of Streptococcus sobrinus. |
Application Notes | This antibody can be used for the identification of different strains of Streptococcus sorbinus using ELISA and immunofluorescence assay. This antibody was not found to cross react with strains other than S. sobrinus (PMID: 3323224). This antibody was used for the enumeration of Streptococci from dental plaque or saliva with the colony immunoblot technique. This antibody could not directly bind S. sobrinus in dental plaque samples, thus the samples were cultured prior to immunological detection and identification (PMID: 2254421). |

Note on publication | Describes the generation of two antibodies against Streptococcus sorbinus. |
