Application | crystallography, in vitro, RIA |
Species Reactivity | Horse |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for horse cytochrome C. Trp59 and charged residues Lys60, Glu66 and Lys99 lie within the epitope of this antibody. |
Alternative Name | CYC; CYCS |
UniProt | P00004 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was raised by immunizing a Balb/c mouse with horse cytochrome C. |
Application Notes | The structure of the original antibody was determined using x-ray crystallography (Mylvaganam et al., 1991; PMID:1656053, Mylvaganam et al., 1998; PMID:9698550). The original antibody was used for thermal titration calorimetry on cytochrome C to study the binding of this antibody (Murphy et al., 1995; PMID:7539913). The epitope of the original antibody was study by acetylation of lysine residues. Here it showed that lysine 99 and lysine 60 are important for the epitope of this antibody (Oertle et al., 1989; PMID:2473902). This antibody was used for an radioimmunoassay on horse cytochrome C (Cooper et al., 1987; PMID:2442150). |

Note on publication | In the original paper antibody-secreting hybridoma cell lines produced from BALB/c mice that had been immunized with horse cytochrome c (cyt c) conjugated to hemocyanin yielded six hybridoma subclones that produced four monoclonal antibodies (mAb) with different patterns of cross- reactivity with a panel of evolutionarily variant cyt c. |
