Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody binds human acidic isoferritin. Ferritin is a protein that catalyzes the oxidation of ferrous iron(II) to ferric iron(III) and stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form. Ferritin is important for iron homeostasis. Ferritins occur as many isoforms, all of which are composed of various combinations of the two primary subunits, H and L. Acidic isoferritins have high proportions of H subunit. |
Alternative Name | FTH1; FTHL6; AIF; acidic isoferritin; Ferritin heavy chain; Ferritin H subunit |
UniProt | P02794 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with acidic isoferritin (AIF) from primary hepatic carcinoma (PHC) tissues. |
Application Notes | The binding specificity of this antibody towards acidic isoferritin, basic isoferritin and human liver ferritin was determined using ELISA. This antibody does not cross react with basic isoferritin and human liver ferritin. The binding affinity of the original mouse IgG1 format of this antibody for acidic isoferritin was reported to be Kd= 4.15 nM. This antibody was used for the immunohistochemical staining of liver tissues of primary hepatic carcinoma (PHC)(PMID: 11604110). This antibody can be used for the identification of acidic isoferritins in a western blot (PMID: 12697395). |
