Specificity | This antibody binds human interleukin-13. It is also reported to cross react with cynomolgus monkey and rhesus monkey IL13. Interleukin-13 is a cytokine secreted by T helper type 2 (Th2) cells, CD4 cells, natural killer T cell, mast cells, basophils, eosinophils and nuocytes. It inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, TNF, IL-8) by LPS-stimulated monocytes. It synergizes with IL2 in regulating interferon-gamma synthesis. It is a mediator of allergic inflammation and different diseases including asthma. |

Immunogen | The original antibody DOM10-53-546 was isolated from in-line fusion libraries selected against human IL-13. This antibody (DOM10-53-616) was generated by replacing the CDR2 of DOM10-53- 546 with that of DOM10-53-386. |
Application Notes | The binding characterization of this antibody to human, cynomolgus monkey and rhesus monkey IL-13 was done using ELISA. The binding affinity of the original single chain VHH antibody was assessed using BIAcore analysis. It was reported that the original VHH antibody bound human and cynomolgus monkey IL13 with a binding affinity of 130 pM and 3.2 pM respectively. This antibody shows neutralizing potency for human, cynomolgus monkey and rhesus IL-13 (US20110236380). |
