Key features and details | |
Cat. No. | MABL-2524 |
Name | Anti-nuclear proliferation marker mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD- JC1 |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | WB, IF, IHC |
Species Reactivity | Human |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody detects a nuclear antigen, distinct from Ki67, present in proliferating cells. It is useful as a marker of proliferation in cases such as squamous cell carcinoma where the Ki67 index cannot be determined. |
Alternative Name | |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | This antibody was raised in mice against Pokeweed-stimulated lymphocytes of human origin. |
Application Notes | This antibody might be used in determining the rate of proliferation in cancer cells. During immunohistochemical stainings, JC1 antibody has been demonstrated to recognise a nuclear marker specific for proliferating cells (both normal and tumour) and distinct from Ki67 (Garrido et al. 1992). Importantly, the advantage of this antibody is that it does not present any additional cytoplasmic labelling in squamous or other cells (as it is the case with Ki67) (Garrido et al., 1992). Furthermore, JC1 antibody was shown to work in Western blot analysis labelling two bands in a sample derived from IM-9 cell lysates (Garrido et al., 1992). The bands were, again, different than those for Ki67, what presents an opportunity of utilising JC1 antibody as an independent and parallel clinical assessment of proliferation next to Ki67. |
