Cat. No. | MABL-377 |
Name | Anti-Alpha-Fetoprotein mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD- 0325-6-9 |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | ELISA |
Species Reactivity | Human |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody binds human alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). AFP is made in the liver of developing babies. It binds copper, nickel, and fatty acids as well as, and bilirubin less well than, serum albumin. AFP levels in healthy adults is very low. Elevated levels of AFP in adult human blood is a marker for cancer. |
Alternative Name | AFP; Alpha-fetoglobulin |
UniProt | P02771 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with human alpha-fetoprotein. |
Application Notes | The specificity of this antibody towards hepatoma cells was determined using ELISA. The tumor targeting ability of the antibody was characterized using cell immunostaining and complement :killings assays (PMID: 1379974). |
Antibody First Published | Hong et al. Characterization and nucleotide sequences of the variable regions of a monoclonal antibody against alpha-fetoprotein. Hybridoma. 1992 Jun;11(3):339-50.PMID:1379974 |
