Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for the pointed end of actin filaments (Brawley et al, 2010; pmid: 21103060). Actin is a highly conserved protein that polymerizes to produce filaments that form cross-linked networks in the cytoplasm of cells (PubMed: 21103060). Actin is a highly conserved protein that polymerizes to produce filaments that form cross-linked networks in the cytoplasm of cells (PubMed: 29581253). Actin exists in both monomeric (G-actin) and polymeric (F-actin) forms, both forms playing key functions, such as cell motility and contraction. |
Alternative Name | Actin, cytoplasmic 1; Fab 19; Fab19; Fab 19, actin; Actin, cytoplasmic 1; ACTB; Beta-actin |
UniProt | P60709 |
Immunogen | The original Fab version of this antibody was obtained by recombinant antibody phage display. |
Application Notes | Immunofluorescence was done with this antibody on actin filaments. In this experiment the antibodies bound to the pointed end of actin (Brawley et al, 2010; pmid: 21103060). ELISA was also preformed with this antibody on actin filaments. This was to confirm the binding of the antibody to actin filaments (Brawley et al, 2010; pmid: 21103060). |

Note on publication | Describes the use of phage display mutagenesis to generate new class of binding protein that can be targeted to the pointed-end of actin. |
