Application
ICC, IPP, WB, ELISA, IHC
Isotype
Engineer antibody
Species Reactivity
Species independent
Clone No.
FMC-9
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
The antibody binds to m5dCyd with an IC50 of 4.27 μg/ml.
Alternative Names
5-methylcytosine
UniProt
Immunogen
m5Cyd-KLH conjugate.
Application Notes
The antibody binds specifically to 5-Methylcytosine, a methylated form of the nucleobase cytosine, a component of both DNA and RNA. In DNA, the presence of 5mC is an epigenetic mark for genome stability during embryonic development. In RNA, 5-methylcytidine is associated with structural stability, aminoacylation and codon recognition of tRNA. The monoclonal antibody FMC9 can be used for detection of methylated DNA in patient blood serum, and can be detected in the urine or tissue of patients with certain cancers, including bladder, breast and colon.

Note on publication
Describes the preparation of the monoclonal antibody FMC9, specific for the modified nucleoside 5-methyl-2'-deoxycytidine (m5dCyd). The antibody was prepared using 5- methylcytidine -keyhole limpet haemocyanin (KLH) conjugate. Also describes how the FMC9 antibody can be used in monitoring m5dCyd levels in peripheral blood cells.
