Specificity | This antibody is specific for CD20, which is expressed by normal and malignant B cells. It does not cross-react with murine CD20. |
Alternative Name | MS4A1; B-lymphocyte antigen CD20;MS4A1; B-lymphocyte surface antigen B1; Bp35; Leukocyte surface antigen Leu-16; Membrane-spanning 4-domains subfamily A member 1; E9PPL6; P19437 |
UniProt | P11836 |
Immunogen | This antibody was raised against human CD20. |
Application Notes | This antibody has been used in western blot detection of CD20 in human plasma, revealing elevated CD20 levels in plasma from chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients (Manshouri et al, 2003). An scFv derived from this antibody fused to streptavidin has been investigated as a method of pretargeted radioimmunotherapy for lymphomas (Schultz et al, 2000), and has been demonstrated to be non-toxic in a phase I trial of non-Hodgkin lymphoma patients (Forero et al, 2004). Additionally, measles viruses engineered to express this scFv are able to enter CD20+ target cells through interaction with CD20 antigen, with clinical relevance for lymphoma therapy (Bucheit et al, 2003). |
