Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody binds mouse CD24 also known as Heat Stable Antigen (HSA), Ly-52, or Nectadrin. It is a variably glycosylated GPI-anchored membrane protein expressed on the surface lymphocytes, granulocytes, epithelial cells, thymocytes, monocytes, erythrocytes, and dendritic cells. This protein plays an important role in differentiation of different cell types and its expression varies during lymphocyte differentiation which makes it a good marker for delineating various lymphocyte developmental stages. It is also expressed in erythroleukemia, small cell lung carcinoma and multiple sclerosis. |
Alternative Name | Heat stable antigen; Signal transducer CD24; Lymphocyte antigen 52; Ly-52; M1/69-J11D heat stable antigen; HSA; Nectadrin; R13-Ag; X62 heat stable antigen |
UniProt | P24807 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing DA rats with B10 mouse splenic T cells and concanavalin A-activated splenocytes. |
Application Notes | This antibody was capable of recognizing CD24 antigen from microsomal membrane preparation of different mouse cells through western blot (PMID: 1696896). This antibody is recommended for immunophenotypic analysis of CD24 expressed on mouse B and T cells using flow cytometry (PMID: 17702899; 20133615; 20203098; 33111080). This antibody (dilution 1:100) was also used in the immunohistochemical analysis of CD24 expression in mouse thyroid cells using 5-μm zinc-fixed, paraffin- embedded thyroid sections (PMID: 18801910). This antibody was also reported to be used in the flow cytometric and immunohistochemical analysis of murine CD24 expressed on the surface of normal human breast epithelial cells early after their infection with a retroviral vector (PMID: 9232274). This antibody was also used in the immunofluorescence staining of murine spinal cord sections (PMID: 17475850). |
