From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody (BT32/A6) recognizes a surface and cytoplasmic antigen present on a variety of human tumor cell lines including gliomas, melanomas, neuroblastomas, and a few sarcomas.
Alternative Names
SK-MG-1; Glioma cells
UniProt
Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by fusing peripheral B lymphocytes (PBL) obtained from four patients with astrocytic tumors with human myeloma-like cell line TM-H2-SP2 to create hybridomas.
Application Notes
The binding specificity of the IgM version of this antibody for human glioma cell lines was tested using ELISA (PMID: 1545260). Further characterization of binding of the IgM version of this antibody to SK-MG-1 and other cultured human cell lines was done using flow cytometry (US5639863; PMID: 7861227). This antibody was also used for the immunoperoxidase staining of human tumor cells (US5639863). Point mutation were introduced to increase the solubility and thermal refolding efficiency the antibody (PMID: 16971398). This antibody was also used to identify the non-human cell lines, normal human tissues, tumors of central neuroepithelial origin which express the antigen it binds (PMID: 9266445).
