Specificity | This antibody recognises the amino-acid sequence corresponding to the 3'-UGA codon region of human CD4 (downstream of the natural UGA (STOP) codon transcribed, if termination at the UGA codon is suppressed). CD4 is a membrane glycoprotein of T lymphocytes that interacts with major histocompatibility complex class II antigenes and is also a receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus. |

Application Notes | 8A5 it reacts with the region of the human CD4 gene downstream of the natural UGA (STOP) codon when it is transcribed (UGA as a selenocysteine), and thus this antibody is recommended for studies of the role of selenium metabolism and selenoproteins in diseases, such as infectious diseases and cancer (Ware, 2003). |
