The antibody binds specifically to chicken IL-18, a cytokine that is produced by macrophages and other cells, and shows synergistic action with IL-12 to induce strong cell-mediated immunity following infection with microbial products, such as lipopolysaccharide.

The original antibody was raised by immunizing BALB/c mice with recombinant chicken IL-18.
Application Notes
The specificity of this antibody (IgG2a) was confirmed by ELISA analysis. The antibody detected the recombinant chIL-18 by western blot analysis (Hong et al, 2010; pmid: 20674988).
