Specificity
The antibody is specific for vaccinia virus. The antibody does not recognize the L1 antigen. Vaccinia virus is a large, complex, enveloped virus belonging to the poxvirus family.

Two llamas were immunized with a combination of killed vaccinia virus material and purified recombinant L1 antigen. A VHH library was then constructed and panned against killed vaccinia virus .
Application Notes
The specificity of the original format of the antibody was confirmed by ELISA analysis (Walper et al., 2014; PMID: 25211488).
