Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for CD44 (gp90 epitope cluster III). Hermes-3 recognizes Hermes antigen homologues on monkey, goat, and sheep lymphocytes. |
Alternative Name | CDw44; Epican; Extracellular matrix receptor III; ECMR-III; GP90 lymphocyte homing/adhesion receptor; HUTCH-I; Heparan sulfate proteoglycan; Hermes antigen; Hyaluronate receptor; Phagocytic glycoprotein 1; PGP-1; Phagocytic glycoprotein I; CD44/H-CAM antibody; Hermes 3 |
UniProt | P16070 |
Immunogen | This antibody was produced by immunizing BALB/c mice with purified Hermes-1 antigen from KCA, a human B lymphoblastoid line that binds preferentially to mucosal HEV. |
Application Notes | This antibody has been used in IF, IHC (immunoperoxidase method), cross-blocking and WB studies to characterise the Hermes-defined antigens (Picker, 1989). This antibody is able to block lymphocyte binding to mucosal HEV, without affecting binding to HEV in peripheral lymph nodes and synovium (Jalkanen, 1987). H3-51 is cross-blocked by this antibody, indicating that the epitopes recognized by these two antibodies overlap (Picker, 1989). |
