Specificity
This antibody reacts specifically with phospholipase A2 (PLA2) protein present in the venom of Trimeresurus stejnegeri. PLA2 inhibits platelet aggregation induced by ADP, arachidonic acid and PAF. It acts in an enzymatic independent manner on a proteinase-activated receptor (PAR1, F2R) to evoke calcium release through the inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor (ITPR1, IP3R) and induces mouse aorta contraction.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with natural phospholipase A2 protein purified from crude venom of Trimeresurus stejnegeri.
Application Notes
This antibody can be used for the detection of PLA2 protein of Trimeresurus stejnegeri by ELISA. The binding specifcity of the antibody was further confirmed by detection of the protein in a western blot (CN113930408; PMID: 34899734).
