Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
The antibody is specific for human podocalyxin. The epitope recognized by the antibody is located on the extracellular domain of podocalyxin. Podocalyxin, a sialoglycoprotein, is thought to be the major constituent of the glycocalyx of podocytes in the glomerulus (Bowman's capsule) in the kidneys. It is a member of the CD34 family of transmembrane sialomucins.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/C mice with purified human podocalyxin-glutathione S-transferase (GST) fusion protein containing the intracellular, transmembrane, and a part of the extracellular domain of human PCLP.
Application Notes
The antibody recognized rabbit PCLP1 in human renal cortical sections on immunofluorescence. The antibody detected PCLP by western blot analysis (Kershaw et al., 1997; PMID: 9188463). The antibody detected PCLP in HEV of tonsil by immunofluorescence analysis. The antibody immunoprecipitated PCLP from colon carcinoma cell lysate (Thomas et al., 2009; PMID: 19118161).
