Specificity | This antibody recognises CD79a which is involved in initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by binding of antigen to the B-cell receptor. CD79a is used as an adjunct to CD20 for detecting normal and neoplastic B cells in tissue sections. |

Immunogen | This antibody was raised by immunising BALB/c mice with a synthetic peptide G-T-Y-Q-D-V-G- S-L-N-I-A-D-V-Q, representing amino acids 202-216 of the human mb-1 protein and conjugated to thyroglobulin. |
Application Notes | IP: HM47 antibody was successfully used in immunoprecipitation of samples coming from NP-40 lysates of surface-labelled Daudi cells what confirmed participation of the mb-1 gene product in mIgM-associated heterodimer; subsequently a reprecipitation was performed as a confirmatory step (van Noesel et al., 1991). IHC: This antibody presented strong selective staining of B cell follicles in sections of lymphoid tissue (Mason et al., 1991). HM47 showed also high specificity in staining bone marrow samples with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) (stained 86% APL cases and only 10% of non-APL samples) (Bhargava et al., 2007). |
