Clone No. | AFD- JCB117 |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | WB, IF, IHC |

Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody recognises CD79a which is involved in initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by binding of antigen to the B-cell receptor. CD79a is used as an adjunct to CD20 for detecting normal and neoplastic B cells in tissue sections. |
Alternative Name | MB-1; B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein alpha chain; Ig- alpha; MB-1 membrane glycoprotein; Membrane-bound immunoglobulin-associated protein; Surface IgM- associated protein; MB-1 membrane glycoprotein |
UniProt | P11912 |
Immunogen | This antibody was raised by immunising mice with a recombinanat mb-1 protein followed by the preparation of a murine hybridoma. |
Application Notes | This antibody reacts very well with B-cells during immunohistochemical labelling of paraffin-embedded tissue samples. It detected most B-cell neoplasms tagging B-cells at various stages of maturation (Mason et al., 1995). Consequently, it may be used as a reliable marker in the detection and investigation of different B-cell conditions. For instance, it labels precursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia samples what makes it the most efficient marker of this disorder in paraffin-embedded tissue (Mason et al., 1995). Furthermore, this antibody may be useful in staining and identification of plasma cell myeloma and acute promyelocytic leukemia. For example, JCB117 antibody was utilised in the characterisation of multiple myeloma and it showed very strong immunostaining of the neoplastic cells (Requena et al., 2003). |
