Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for chicken CD80, a type I glycoprotein consisting of two extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic tail. Functionally, CD80 on antigen presenting cells (APCs) binds to CD28 on T cells, thereby providing a costimulatory signal necessary for T cell activation. |
Alternative Name | Cluster of Differentiation 80; CD80 protein; chicken CD80; chCD80 |
UniProt | Q5F3J1 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was raised by immunizing BALB/c mice with purified chicken CD80. |
Application Notes | This antibody was used for detection of chicken CD80 expressed on CHO cells by flow cytometry; it was also used to detect CD80 on monocytes in the bursa of Fabricius and on spleen monocytes. chCD80 from transfected CHO cells, or from LPS-stimulated mononuclear lymphocytes were used for immunoprecipitation. In this procedure the protein was immunoprecipitated using this antibody. This antibody was used for immunohistochemistry on the bursa of Fabricius and spleen. Immunofluorescence was performed on chicken intestinal dendritic cells using this antibody. The antibody inhibited ConA-stimulated spleen cell differentiation into MHCII+ cells and blocked IL-2 induced spleen blast cell proliferation (Lee et al, 2011; pmid: 21334748). |
