Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for HLA class I histocompatibility antigen all different chains. Antigen- presenting major histocompatibility complex class I (MHCI) molecule. In complex with B2M/beta 2 microglobulin displays primarily viral and tumor-derived peptides on antigen-presenting cells for recognition by alpha-beta T cell receptor (TCR) on HLA-A-restricted CD8-positive T cells, guiding antigen-specific T cell immune response to eliminate infected or transformed cells. |
Alternative Name | HLA class I histocompatibility antigen; HLA; Human leukocyte antigen |
UniProt | P04439 |
Immunogen | BALB/c mice were immunized by a series of four to six monthly injections of human PBLs, human Jurkat tumor ceIls, o enriched T lymphocytes. |
Application Notes | The biotinylated antibody was used for a blocking experiment in human PBLs (Smith et al, 1994; pmid:7913109). Flow cytometry was preformed on human PBMC using this antibody (Woodle et al, 1997; pmid:9036961). This antibody was used for immunoprecipitation on C1R and T2. HMy2.C1R (C1R) are HLA-A negative and -B35 low human B-lymphoblastoid cells, and 0.174 X CEMR (T2) are T-B lymphoblastoid hybrid cells that are missing a large region of the MHC, including the genes encoding TAP1 and TAP2 (Dangoria et al, 2002; pmid:11978783). |
Antibody First Published | Smith et al. Inhibition of T cell activation by a monoclonal antibody reactive against the alpha 3 domain of human MHC class I molecules J Immunol. 1994 Aug 1;153(3):1054-67. PMID:7913109 |
Note on publication | In this paper the antibody was generated by immunizing mice with human PBLs, human jurkat tumor cells or enriched T lymphocytes |
