Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody recognizes E cadherin which is one of the most important molecules in cell-cell adhesion in epithelial tissues. It is localized on the surfaces of epithelial cells in regions of cell-cell contact known as adherens junctions. The 4A2 monoclonal antibody recognizes the cytoplasmic domain of E- cadherin. The epitope has been mapped to residues 757–778. |
Alternative Name | Cadherin-1; CD324; Cadherin E; E-Cadherin; epithelial cadherin; CAM 120/80; Uvomorulin |
UniProt | P12830 |
Immunogen | The original mouse IgG1 version of this antibody was raised by immunizing mice with the recombinant maltose binding protein fused to full length human E-Cadherin. |
Application Notes | 4A2 antibody has been widely used for identification and analysis of E cadherin. The original mouse IgG1 version was used to detect the intracellular domain of E cadherin in A431 or A431-E- cad-M cells (Nieman et al., 1999; pmid: 10212155). It was also demonstrated that this antibody can detect E cadherin on Western blots (Li et al., 2019; pmid: 31245295). Similarly, 4A2 antibody was also utilized to immunoprecipitate E cadherin from LNCaP and C4-2 cell extracts (Jaggi et al., 2005; pmid: 15695390). |
