Name | Anti-Glycoprotein mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD- CK1 (BP7 10B11) |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | WB, ELISA |
Species Reactivity | Burkholderia mallei, Burkholderia pseudomallei |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody binds surface glycoprotein of Burkholderia mallei. B. mallei (BM), a host-adapted pathogen that does not normally persist in nature, causes glanders in horse. Some studies indicated that BM is highly infectious in humans by aerosol route. This antibody also cross reacts with surface glycoprotein of Burkholderia pseudomallei (BP), a causative agent of melioidosis, is a gram-negative, facultative anaerobic, motile bacillus commonly found in the soil and stagnant waters. BP infection is often due to either direct inoculation into wounds and skin abrasions or inhalation of contaminated materials. Recently, BP has been recognized as a major cause of community-acquired septicemia, resulting in significant mortality. |
Alternative Name | Burkholderia mallei; BM; surface glycoproteins; glanders; Burkholderia pseudomallei; BP; Burkholderia spp; melioidosis; Whitmore’s disease |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with various antigen preparations from either of B. mallei (American Type Culture Collection [ATCC] 23344) or B. pseudomallei (ATCC 23343). |
Application Notes | This antibody can be used for the detection of heat killed or 0.02% SDS treated samples of BP and BP using an ELISA. This antibody was reported to bind 34, 38 and 48 kDa surface glycoproteins of Burkholderia pseudomallei and 28, 38, 48 kDa surface glycoprotein of Burkholderia mallei in a western blot assay (PMID: 21573027). |
