Name | Anti-HPV16-L1 mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD- H16.V5 |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | IP, neutralize, ELISA, FC, IF |
Species Reactivity | Human papillomavirus type 16 |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody recognizes a surface confirmation epitope on the intact HPV-16 L1 virus like particles. This antibody is known to recognize the FG and HI loops, which are immunodominant in the humoral response against the HPV16 major capsid protein. |
Alternative Name | L1; Major capsid protein L1 |
UniProt | P03101 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing mice with recombinant baculovirus- induced HPV-6 L1 VLPs that were purified from infected Sf9 cells by CsCl-banding. |
Application Notes | The specificity of this antibody against intact and disrupted virus-like particles (VLPs) of HPV-6, HPV-16, HPV-11, and HPV-18 was determined using ELISA (PMID: 8874508). This antibody was used as a capture antibody to test human serum IgG reactive with HPV-16 capsids (PMID: 8896492). This antibody was also reported to block HPV-16 VLP-induced agglutination of mouse RBC (PMID: 8806551). This antibody is capable of neutralizing by inhibiting HPV-16 binding to cell surfaces (PMID: 9223527). This antibody was also used to characterize a major neutralizing epitope on the HPV-16 type virus (PMID: 10233949). Sequences at both ends of the long FG loop (amino acids 260 to 290) were required for H16.V5 reactivity (PMID: 14557648). H16.V5 is often used for the assessment of the integrity and antigenicity of VLPs in vaccine products (PMID: 17012876). |
Antibody First Published | Christensen et al. Monoclonal antibodies to HPV-6 L1 virus-like particles identify conformational and linear neutralizing epitopes on HPV-11 in addition to type-specific epitopes on HPV-6. Virology. 1996 Oct 15;224(2):477-86. PMID:8874508 |
Note on publication | Describes the generation of antibodies against the HPV-6 L1 virus-like particles (VLPs) and identifies whether these antibodies can be used in the neutralization of HPV11 infection. |
