Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for an unknown autoantigen (still under investigation, as of 2016), expressed in islet beta cells (also referred to as intraislet). |
Alternative Name | Unknown islet β-cells autoantigen; unknown intraislets autoantigen |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated from a B lymphocyte islet-infiltrate of a diabetes- resistant but insulitis-prone (8.3-NODxNOR) F1 mouse. |
Application Notes | This antibody recognizes antigenic determinants selectively expressed in islet β-cells of the pancreas, as determined by immunofluorescence (IF) staining; its staining pattern mimics the pattern obtained with anti-insulin antibodies. Furthermore, this antibody was shown to be cross-reactive with stomach and kidney cryosections of NOD.RAG-2−/− mice (Carrillo et al., 2005; PMID: 15616012). This antibody was also used for tissue immunostaining of pancreatic cryosections from NOD.RAG-2−/− mice (Carrascal et al., 2016; PMID: 26639224). |
Antibody First Published | Carrillo et al. Islet-infiltrating B-cells in nonobese diabetic mice predominantly target nervous system elements Diabetes. 2005 Jan;54(1):69-77. doi: 10.2337/diabetes.54.1.69 PMID:15616012 |
Note on publication | The original publication describes the generation of hybridoma cell lines of islet- infiltrating B-cells from mice with type 1 diabetes and diabetes-resistant mice, and the characterization of the tissue specificity of the antibodies produced by these hybridomas. |
