Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody reacts with α-helical molecules and the carbohydrate N-acetyl-b-D-glucosamine (GlcNac). Specifically, it binds streptococcal M-protein (type 5), human myosin, keratin, DNA, vimentin, troponin, ganglioside, and glycophorin M,N. |
Alternative Name | Myosin; Streptococcal M-protein; Keratin; DNA; Vimentin; Troponin; Ganglioside; Glycophorin M,N |
UniProt | P02977 |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c BYJ mice with streptococcal M type 5 membranes followed by a second, boosting dose of M type 5 streptococcal membranes. |
Application Notes | This antibody reacts with human heart cells and whole streptococci (group A, M type 5), as shown in an ELISA, and with human heart cells, human sarcolemma (weak response), and group A streptococcal membranes (weak response), as shown in a WB (Cunnigham et al., 1984; PMID: 6384047). This antibody labels the cytoplasm of epidermal cells and epidermal appendages in normal and psoriatic skin, as shown by immunofluorescent staining (Swerlick et al., 1986; PMID: 3525693). This antibody binds CV (B3), as shown in an ELISA; neutralizes PV-1 and CV (B3), as shown in a plaque-reduction neutralization assay; and is slightly cytotoxic to rat fibroblasts, as shown in a cytotoxicity assay (Cunningham et al., 1992; PMID: 1311095). This antibody reacts with retinal S-antigen (S-Ag), as shown in an ELISA (Lerner et al., 1995; PMID: 8722579). This antibody binds myosin at a medium relative avidity, as determined in a competitive ELISA. Reactivity with glycophorin M and N was determined by hemagglutination assay (Mertens et al., 2000; PMID: 11282394). |
