| Key features and details | |
| Cat. No. | MABL-2451 |
| Name | Anti-N-acetyl-ganglioside (GM2) mAbs |
| Clone No. | AFD- E1 |
| From | Recombinant Antibody |
| Isotype | Engineer antibody |
| Application | ELISA, IHC |
| Species Reactivity | Human |
| Basic Information | |
| Specificity | Gangliosides are glycosphingolipids expressed on the cell surface membranes of most mammalian cell types. In ELISA experiments E1 showed a highly-restricted binding specificity, detecting only GM2 (not GM1 or GM3). The antibody recognises only the N-acetylneuraminic acid deratives of gangliosides; no N-glycolylneuraminic acid derivatives were recognised. |
| Alternative Name | |
| UniProt | |
| Immunogen | The antibody was generated by injecting BALB/c mice with GM2 ganglioside incorporated into liposomes. |
| Application Notes | ELISA demonstrated E1 has a highly-restricted binding specificity, binding only to GM2. IHC studies showed positivity with E1 in primary lung carcinomas, but no reactivity with corresponding normal tissues (Alfonso et al, 1995). |
