Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody shows reactivity with amoxicillin, which is a penicillin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, pneumonia, and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract. This antibody also cross reacts with aztreonam, meropenem and penicillin G. This antibody does not bind ceftriaxone. |
Alternative Name | AX; Amoxycillin; Amox; ChEBI:2676 |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing Lama glama with amoxicillin conjugated with human serum albumin. The peripheral blood lymphocytes of the llama were used to generate a VHH library and the specific antibody was selected by panning the library against amoxicillin-KLH conjugate. |
Application Notes | The binding reactivity of this antibody for ampicillin, aztreonam, meropenem and penicillin G and ceftriaxone was determined using ELISA (PMID 34931798). |
Antibody First Published | Segovia-de Los Santos et al. Bispecific Single-Domain Antibodies as Highly Standardized Synthetic Calibrators for Immunodiagnosis. Anal Chem. 2022 Jan 18;94(2):1342-1349.PMID34931798 |
Note on publication | Describes the generation and characterization of two bispecific calibrators with potential application for the diagnosis of allergy against the antibiotics aztreonam and amoxicillin in humans. |
