Description
Human Complement C4b produced in Human plasma is a glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 3 disulfide-linked chains and having a molecular mass of 195 kDa.
Synonyms
Complement C4-B, Basic complement C4, C3 and PZP-like alpha-2-macroglobulin domain-containing protein 3, C4B, CO4, CPAMD3.
Introduction
C4b is derived from native C4 upon cleavage and release of C4a. 4b is created by cleavage of purified C4 with the classical pathway activated protease C1s enzyme. C4b is essential to the function of 2 of the 3 pathways of complement. Both the classical and lectin pathways of complement activation generate surface-bound active proteases that cleave C4. These enzymes cleave a peptide bond in C4 releasing the anaphylatoxin C4a and activating C4b. C4A and C4B are 2 variants of C4 that are common in man whereas, in animals who have only 1 type usually have C4B.
Physical Appearance
Sterile filtered solution.
Formulation
