Name | Anti-GFP mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD-N86/38.1 |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | IP, IF, IHC |
Species Reactivity | Aequorea victoria |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for amino acids 1-238 (full-length) of jellyfish green fluorescent protein. It cross-reacts with cyan and yellow fluorescent protein. It does not cross-react with red fluorescent protein. Energy-transfer acceptor. Its role is to transduce the blue chemiluminescence of the protein aequorin into green fluorescent light by energy transfer. Fluoresces in vivo upon receiving energy from the Ca2+-activated photoprotein aequorin. |
Alternative Name | N86/38.1R; Green fluorescent protein |
UniProt | P42212 |
Immunogen | This antibody was raised by immunising BALB/c mice with a fusion of protein amino acids 1- 238 (full-length) of jellyfish green fluorescent protein. |
Application Notes | Immunofluorescence was preformed with this antibody in the brain of mice. Here it was bound to both yellow and green fluorescent protein (Kumar et al, 2015; PMID:25337655). This antibody was used for immunoprecipitation on Elav-GAL4, 50Y-GAL4, UAS-eGFP, The UAS-GFP and RpL10A fly strains of the genus Drosophila (Thomas et al, 2012; PMID:22792260). Western blotting was preformed with this antibody on samples of Elav-GAL4, 50Y-GAL4, UAS-eGFP, The UAS-GFP and RpL10A fly strains of the genus Drosophila (Thomas et al, 2012; PMID:22792260). Immunohistochemistry was preformed on zebrafish to visualize GFP (Mackenzie and Raible, 2012; PMID:23094043). Immunoprecipitation using this antibody was preformed on the sciatic nerves of rats infected with an adenovirus containing a GFP construct (Chang et al, 2014; PMID:25362471). |
Antibody First Published | Thomas et al. A versatile method for cell-specific profiling of translated mRNAs in Drosophila PLoS One. 2012;7(7):e40276. PMID:22792260 |
Note on publication | Transgenic strains of Drosophila melanogaster expressing a GFP-tagged ribosomal protein, RpL10A, under the control of the UAS promoter to perform cell-type specific translatome profiling were created. The GFP::RpL10A fusion protein incorporates efficiently into ribosomes and polysomes. |
