Name | Anti-Kv2.1 K+ channel pS603 mAbs |
Clone No. | AFD-L61/14R |
From | Recombinant Antibody |
Isotype | Engineer antibody |
Application | WB, ELISA, IF, IHC |
Species Reactivity | Rat |
Basic Information | |
Specificity | This antibody is specific for Kv2.1. Kv2.1 is a voltage-gated potassium channel that mediates transmembrane potassium transport in excitable membranes, primarily in the brain, but also in the pancreas and cardiovascular system. Contributes to the regulation of the action potential (AP) repolarization, duration and frequency of repetitive AP firing in neurons, muscle cells and endocrine cells and plays a role in homeostatic attenuation of electrical excitability throughout the brain. |
Alternative Name | Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily B member 1; Kcnb1; Delayed rectifier potassium channel 1; DRK1; Voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv2.1 |
UniProt | |
Immunogen | This antibody was raised by immunizing a mouse with the pS603 phosphopeptide. |
Application Notes | mmunoblotting was preformed on Kv2.1-KO and AMIGO-KO mouse brain samples (Mandikian et al, 2014; PMID:24962901). immunohistochemistry against brain samples from wild-type mice subjected to CO2 inhalation was preformed with this antibody (Mandikian et al, 2014; PMID:24962901). This antibody was validated with ELISA on rat Kv2.1 amino acids 595–616 (Mandikian et al, 2014; PMID:24962901). COS-1 and CHO cells expressing Kv channels were used for immunofluorescence with this antibody (Cobb et al, 2015; PMID:26442584). COS-1 and CHO cell lysates transfected with transfected with rat Kv2.1, Kv1.4, or Kv2.1 were immunoblotted with this antibody (Cobb et al, 2015; PMID:26442584). |
Antibody First Published | Mandikian et al. Cell type-specific spatial and functional coupling between mammalian brain Kv2.1 K+ channels and ryanodine receptors J Comp Neurol. 2014 Oct 15;522(15):3555- 74. PMID:24962901 |
Note on publication | It was revealed that striatal MSNs are distinct in their expression of clustered Kv2.1 at plasma membrane sites juxtaposed to intracellular RyRs, as well as in Kv2.1 phosphorylation state. |
