Specificity | This antibody recognizes and binds phosphorylated epitopes of the Tau protein (PHF-Tau). This antibody does not cross react with normal Tau or bovine Tau. It is capable of recognizing phosphorylations at both serine 202 and threonine 205 and to some extent also serine 208 (PMID: 7624036, 26800003). |

Immunogen | The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with partially purified PHF- tau in complete Freund's adjuvant. |
Application Notes | This antibody recognizes all isoforms from Alzheimer PHFs, but none from normal bovine or human brain. This antibody also recognizes Alzheimer's disease-associated PHF-Tau in an ELISA with no cross reactivity to normal Tau protein (PMID: 1384266). This antibody shares an overlapping epitope with another anti-tau antibody TAU1 (PMID: 1563356). This antibody strongly reacts with PHF tau in a western blot assay (PMID: 1384266, 1563356, 1376918, 1376245, 7875300). This antibody was also used for the immunohistochemical staining of different tissues of the fetal and adult human central nervous system and an Alzheimer disease patient (PMID: 8506352). |
