From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds specifically to 17β estradiol, a mammalian estrogenic steroid hormone that is produced in the ovaries, placenta, and testis.
Alternative Names
17-beta-estradiol; E2; ethynyl estradiol; oestradiol
UniProt
Immunogen
estradiol-6-ethyl methoxy carbonyl (EMC)–bovine serum albumin (BSA).
Application Notes
This antibody binds 17ß estradiol with a sensitivity of 33 ± 9 pg/ml. In women, 17β estradiol plays an important role in the development of secondary sexual characteristics and the maturation of long bones. It is also responsible for the activation of certain oncogenes and can be involved in the development of breast cancer and cancer of the uterine lining. Anti-estradiol antibodies can be useful in the detection of hormone concentrations in serum samples. This can be used therapeutically to monitor follicular maturation in cases of female infertility and estradiol-secreting tumors.
