Specificity
This antibody recognises Band 3 protein which is both an anion transporter and a primary structural protein in erythrocytes. Mutations in its gene lead to a number of hemolytic anemias.

Immunogen
This antibody was raised by immunising mice with fetal liver cells.
Application Notes
Band 3 is a primary, most abundant protein in the membrane of erythrocytes and Q1/156 antibody is recommended as a red blood cell marker. This antibody was used to immunoprecipitate crosslinked band 3 protein complexes as well as to deterime which oligomers were the most prevalent via Western blot (Rivera-Santiago et al., 2017). This antibody was also utilised in the identification of erythrocytes via immunohistochemistry to differentiate between the cells of various developmental stages (Watt et al., 1998).
