From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody is specific for the brucella class of bacteria. Brucella is a genus of Gram-negative bacteria, named after David Bruce (1855–1931). They are small (0.5 to 0.7 by 0.6 to 1.5 µm), nonencapsulated, nonmotile, facultatively intracellular coccobacilli.

Immunogen
This antibody was raised by immunizing mice with B.melitensis.
Application Notes
To characterize the binding of this antibody, an ELISA was preformed on a B. melitensis 16M O-polysaccharide-biotin conjugate using the mouse version of this antibody (Bundle et al, 1989; pmid:2474505). An anti-idiotypic antibody was raised by panning against the mouse version of this antibody. Furthermore surface plasmon resonace was preformed using an anti-idiotipic antibody with the mouse version of this antibody as antigen (Tanha et al, 2002; pmid:12009207).

Note on publication
The paradigm that Brucella A and M epitopes are simultaneously expressed on single cells and within one antigen molecule was reinvestigated by using polysaccharide-specific murine monoclonal antibodies.
