Specificity
L11 antibody binds specifically to mouse CD43. CD43 plays a role in the physicochemical properties of the T-cell surface and in lectin binding. CD43 is a major cell-surface sialoglycoprotein - also found on neutrophils, bone marrow stem cells, B-lineage cells after activation of thymocytes and T lymphocytes but is not expressed on resting B lymphocytes. The protein presents carbohydrate ligands to selectins and Is a counter-receptor for SN/Siglec-1. During T-cell activation it is actively removed from the T- cell-APC (antigen-presenting cell) contact site thus suggesting a negative regulatory role in adaptive immune response.

L11 antibody was prepared by immunizing rats with mouse CD43.
Application Notes
L11 has been shown to prevent the deveopment of diabetes in mice and has also been used for FC, IHC and to block the migration of T cells from the bloodstream into organized lymphoid tissues. L11 was also shown to inhibit the development of inflammation in pancreatic islets and salivary glands.
