Specificity
This antibody is specific for amino acids 411-424 of human cytokeratin 20. Cytokeratins are intermediate filaments found in the intracytoplasmic cytoskeleton of epithelial tissue. There are 19 keratin polypeptides are found in human epithelium. Cytokeratin 20 plays a significant role in maintaining keratin filament organization in intestinal epithelia. When phosphorylated, it plays a role in the secretion of mucin in the small intestine.

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing female ICR mice with human CK20 peptide (amino acids 411-424) conjugated to KLH in equal volume of Freund's incomplete adjuvant.
Application Notes
This antibody can bind human cytokeratin 20 in an ELISA. It is also capable of detecting human cytokeratin 20 in a western blot assay. This antibody is similar to commercially available anti-Cytokeratin 20 antibody KS20.8 in staining various human tissues. This antibody was used in the immunohistochemical staining of paraffin sections of stomach, colon and colonic cancer tissues (CN109734805).
