This antibody recognises the extracellular domain of human INSR. It does not cross-react with rat, mouse or rabbit insulin receptors, and displays very low cross-reactivity with bovine, porcine and ovine INSR.

Immunogen
This antibody was raised by immunising BALB/c mice with purified human placental insulin receptor.
Application Notes
This antibody has been used in immunoprecipitation assays, with both radiolabelled human insulin receptor (hINSR) and hINSR-radiolabelled insulin complexes (Soos et al, 1986). This antibody has also been used in immunoblot analysis with purified hINSR (Soos et al, 1986) and immunohistochemistry. This antibody has been shown to have limited inhibitory effect on insulin binding to IM-9 cells (Soos et al, 1986). However, this antibody has been shown to stimulate insulin receptor autophosphorylation and kinase activity towards exogenous substrates (O'Brien et al, 1987).
