Specificity
This antibody is specific for the mammalian IgG-Fc domain. It was tested for and found to bind the human IgG-Fc domain (all subclasses). In a cross-reactivity test, it did not bind mouse, bovine, rat, Syrian hamster, guinea pig, dog, cat, goat, or sheep IgG-Fc.

The original antibody was generated by immunizing llamas with mammalian IgG antibodies and Fc fragments, creating the appropriate phage display library, and panning against the original target.
Application Notes
The reactivity of the original version of this antibody (camelid (llama) VHH) was tested using ELISA. It was found to bind only the human IgG-Fc domain. Its binding to human, mouse, and bovine IgG was also tested via chromatography, confirming its specificity to human IgG (US9040666B2).
