Specificity
This antibody is specific for human IL-6 and does not bind IL-2, IL-7, IL-15, IL-10, IL-21, GM-CSF and TNF-alpha proteins . Interleukin-6 is a multifunctional cytokine which regulates immune responses, hematopoiesis, tissue regeneration, and inflammatory reactions. Dysregulation of IL-6 is known to be involved in the inflammatory pathways of several autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, Castleman's syndrome, idiopathic juvenile arthritis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, autoimmune epilepsy and others.

The original antibody was raised by immunizing mice with the human IL-6 antigen.
Application Notes
The original mouse IgG antibody binds human IL-6 with a high affinity and has a dissociation constant (Kd) in the nanomolar range. A combination of 5D5D9 and 5D5H10 can be used in a double antibody sandwich ELISA, where 5D5H10 is used as a capture antibody and 5D5D9 is used as a detection antibody. The sensitivity of IL-6 detection for this pair was reported to be 2.344pg/mL (CN118515763).
