Specificity
This antibody binds human IL-8, which is a chemotactic factor that attracts neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells, but not monocytes. It is also involved in neutrophil activation. It is released from several cell types in response to an inflammatory stimulus.

The original antibody was generated by immunizing BALB/c mice with recombinant human IL- 8.
Application Notes
The binding specificity of this antibody for human IL-8 was determined using ELISA. The microporous chamber chemotaxis assay was used to detect the inhibitory effect of this antibody on the chemotactic activity of IL-8. It was reported that 1ug/ml of this antibody can significantly inhibit the chemotactic activity of IL-8 (CN1309738).
