From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds indolicidin (ILPWKWPWWPWRR), which is a potent antimicrobial peptide isolated from the neutrophil blood cells of cow. Indolicidin is a tryptophan-rich cationic broad spectrum antibiotic that can neutralize bacterial lipopolysaccharides and has immunomodulatory effects. Its antibacterial activity is realized inside the phagolysosomes of host neutrophils, outside of which it exhibits cytotoxicity. Some reports have demonstrated its interaction with various molecules like DNA, topoisomerase I, calmodulin, and ATP.
Alternative Names
CATHL4; Cathelicidin-4; Antimicrobial peptide; antibiotic
UniProt

Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing 8–10-week-old BALB/c mice with indolicidin conjugated to diphtheria toxoid.
Application Notes
The binding characterization of this antibody was done using ELISA. It was reported that this antibody could bind indolicidin with a binding affinity of KD = 56 nM and could block the antibacterial action of the peptide (PMID: 20837490).
