Application
RIA, ELISA, FC
Isotype
Engineer antibody
Species Reactivity
calf, rodent, Human
Clone No.
Ab 123 (mAb3, CC9C10)
From
Recombinant Antibody
Specificity
This antibody binds an epitope on the B chain of calf, human and rodent insulin. Insulin is a peptide hormone produced by the beta cells of the pancreatic islets. It reduces blood glucose concentration by promoting its absorption from the blood into liver, fat and skeletal muscle cells. Decreased or absent insulin activity results in diabetes mellitus, a condition of high blood sugar level (hyperglycemia).
Alternative Names
INS; proinsulin
UniProt
P01317
Immunogen
The original antibody was generated by immunizing female BALB/c mice with calf insulin in Freund's complete adjuvant.
Application Notes
This antibody can be used to detect insulin in a sample using ELISA and radioimmunoassay (PMID: 2109009; 6193965). This antibody was used in the flow cytometric analysis of insulin occupied B cell receptors in VH125SD B6 mice (PMID: 26109644).
